Eligibility

Incoming Freshmen (Fall 2020) declaring one of the following Majors in the Department of Art and Design: Art Education, Graphic Design, Studio Art, or Visual Arts.

DEADLINE FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIP MATERIALS: MARCH 1st, 2020

Required Materials:

1) DIGITAL PORTFOLIO:

Applicant portfolios must contain 10 examples of art and design work.  Appropriate examples may be selected from the following : 

  • Drawings with an emphasis on observational drawing (i.e. still life). 
  • Artwork created through painting, sculpture, ceramics, or print media.
  • Artwork that demonstrates an understanding of Design Concepts (Elements of Art, Principles of Design, Color Theory, etc...). Samples of 2D, 3D, and digital work are acceptable for this category. 

Images must be saved in the following format:

• JPEGS: Sized no bigger than 1000 pixels in the longest direction (72 dpi). Label each image in numerical order (LastName_1.jpg) 

2) IMAGE LIST:

Please include a corresponding image list with the title of the artwork, size, media, and date.  

3) Personal Essay:

 In 500 words or less, please describe your goals for pursuing a major in the Department of Art and Design.
